LMI is seeking a Space Analytics Engineer to support the development and evaluation of future space architectures, with a focus on sustained space maneuver and resilient orbital operations. This role is centered on defining candidate system architectures and designing trade studies that inform early-phase force design and capability development decisions.
In this role, you will operate in a highly ambiguous, concept-driven environment, translating broad mission challenges into structured analytical approaches. Your work will directly shape how emerging space capabilities are evaluated and prioritized for future investment.
This position is ideal for an analytical thinker who excels at framing complex problems, identifying key variables, and designing decision-relevant analysis—not just executing models.
This is an on-site role in Colorado Springs, CO.
LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.
Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors—helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Develop and define candidate space architectures to support sustained maneuver and mission resilience across orbital regimes
- →Design and structure trade studies to evaluate alternative system concepts, identifying key variables, constraints, and performance metrics
- →Translate ambiguous mission problems into clear analytical frameworks that can be executed by modeling & simulation and data science teams
- →Identify critical drivers of performance (e.g., maneuver capability, sustainment approaches, constellation design, logistics concepts) and prioritize analysis accordingly
- →Collaborate with modeling & simulation engineers and data scientists to ensure analytical efforts are aligned to decision needs
- →Interpret analytical results and translate findings into actionable insights for force design, capability development, and resource prioritization
- →Support development of initial requirements, CONOPS, and architecture definitions for notional and emerging space systems
- →Contribute to technical reports, briefings, and stakeholder engagements, clearly communicating trade-offs and implications
- →Iterate on architectures and trades as new insights emerge, refining the analytical approach over time
Requirements
