Responsibilities

→Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.

→Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.

→Positions patient and administers oral, rectal or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.

→Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.

→Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.

→Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.

→Aids with transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and Inpatient areas.

→Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols.

→Perform POC iSTAT testing and screen for contrast contraindications.

→Enters patient charges into computer.

→Monitors equipment for functionality and performance. Refers noted problems to the CT Supervisor.

→Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.

→Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager.
