As a Team Lead of our Hazardous Materials group, you will lead a diverse team of technical professionals working on a range of public and private sector projects spanning the built environment, from commercial and residential developments to infrastructure and public facilities. 

The ideal candidate will bring a powerful combination of strong client relationships, business development acumen, and technical expertise across the Southern California region. Their established industry connections, strategic project management skills, and client-centric mindset will be key to cultivating new and dynamic business opportunities throughout the area.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the profitability of the team, contributing to the overall success of the business unit and company at large.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and senior leaders to deliver high-quality, timely, and value-added environmental services to clients. This includes expertise in areas such as asbestos, lead, hazardous materials, and related environmental disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain a sustainable sales pipeline throughout Southern California region.
  • Conduct and manage field work, including site inspections, sample collection, and environmental assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and technical documents for client use, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Interface with clients at a technical level, leveraging strong communication skills to address concerns, provide updates, and offer expert advice.
  • Develop cost estimates and proposals for environmental projects, taking into account factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Manage assigned tasks efficiently and effectively, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in engineering, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of proven leadership experience, combining a strong seller/doer mindset with a track record of driving business growth and delivering technical excellence.
  • Certification as a California Asbestos Consultant and CDPH Lead Inspector/Assessor is required 
  • Must possess deep market insight and a comprehensive understanding of the Southern California region. 
  • Completion of the 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training.

The pay range for this California position is $130,000- $150,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
