The Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) is responsible for improving the quality, accuracy, and completeness of clinical documentation. A key focus of this role is the timely and accurate retrieval of medical records and documentation in response to internal and external requests, including audits, payer inquiries, legal requests, and regulatory reviews. The CDS ensures documentation supports appropriate coding, billing, and compliance standards while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of patient health information.
