  Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for the continuing full-time position of Athletic Therapist. Under the direction of the Director of Health and Counselling Services and in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Athletic Therapist is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing management of athletic injuries. This role is an integral part of the university’s risk management framework, supporting the health and safety of student-athletes while helping to mitigate institutional liability through the implementation of evidence-based care, established concussion management protocols, and informed return-to-play decisions that prioritize student-athlete well-being. The Athletic Therapist will work closely with the interdisciplinary team at the Nancy Dingwall Health and Counselling Centre, including allied health professionals such as physicians and surgeons, as well as the CBU Integrated Services Team, varsity coaches, and the Strength and Conditioning Coach. All services will be delivered in compliance with the Nova Scotia Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and other applicable privacy and confidentiality legislation. In addition to supporting varsity student-athletes, the Athletic Therapist may provide services to the broader student population as needed and as directed by the Director of Health and Counselling Services. The role may also involve contributing to the education and mentorship of students participating in athletic therapy programs or completing field placements through the Nancy Dingwall Health and Counselling Centre. Qualifications:   Bachelor's degree in athletic therapy, Kinesiology, or a related field; Certification through the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association; Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification; Three years experience working with competitive athletes (university or elite level preferred); Strong knowledge of sport specific injuries and rehabilitation techniques; Excellent assessment and clinical decision-making skills; Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; High level of professionalism and confidentiality;   Working Conditions:   Combination of clinic, gymnasium, and field environments; Ability to work irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and some travel for competition is required.   Applications for the successful candidate will include a:   cover letter describing the expertise of the applicant complete resume list of at least three references.
