Job Summary:


Covenant Christian High School (Indianapolis) seeks a committed Christian educator to fill a full-time position to teach Bible courses beginning in the fall of the 2026-2027 school year.    


Candidates should be passionate about helping students grow in their knowledge of Scripture and their love for engaging with the Bible in a significant way. Candidates should be able to guide students in engaging issues ranging from academic weaknesses to questions about spiritual life. Candidates should be able to encourage struggling learners while at the same time holding them accountable for doing the work necessary to succeed in Covenant’s  academic program, especially in Biblical and Theological Studies.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines.
  •  Designs and delivers individual lesson plans in one or more academic, technical, or vocational subjects using a variety of teaching techniques and appealing to various learning styles. 
  • Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
  • Monitors students’ progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for graduation, vocational school, or college, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Academic Advisors, Academic Dean, Dean of Students, and the BTS Department Head
  •  Communicates progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or principal.
  •  Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents.
  • Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
  • Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
  • Performs related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the behavior of students in the classroom, on school grounds, and on educational trips.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Thorough understanding of the pedagogy and best practices of education.
  • Desire to mentor high school-aged children and ability to adapt to their developmental status.  
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Google Suite & Canvas.
  • Ideal applicants will be equipped to teach using both online and traditional methods and have global perspectives developed through study abroad.
  • A desire to travel with student groups during January term is also encouraged.


Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Bible/Theology is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. Ideal applicants will be able to teach using both online and traditional methods and be dedicated to continual growth in both knowledge of Scripture and the practice of teaching.
  • Must be willing to pursue an Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) teaching certification
  • Ongoing maintenance of all requirements regarding professional courses and in-services required.
  • Prior teaching experience highly preferred.
  • Specialized training in teaching secondary school-aged children is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.  
  • Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
