By joining the team as a Construction Claims Liaison, you’ll be the primary contact for construction claims - delivering trusted expertise, clear communication, and proactive support to insureds, agents, and internal partners.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
Leadership and Culture
Supports both operational teams and senior management by providing technical claims expertise, transparent communication, and proactive risk management
Serves as the primary communication channel between internal and external stakeholders
Ensures all claims are reported, managed, and resolved effectively and in accordance with policy terms
Claims Management
Acts as the primary liaison between underwriting, claims team, loss control, actuary, insureds, and agents.
Assists insureds with filing claims accurately and promptly, with all required documentation (e.g., loss reports, invoices, photos, incident reports
Assist insured with providing supporting evidence (e.g., contracts)
Track and monitor claim status, reserve, and payments. Escalate any delays or disputes as necessary
Supports site visits, inspections, and meetings between Underwriting, Loss Control, and Claims
Assist with review and interpretation of policies to confirm coverage applicability and in evaluating liability when needed
Construction Liaison
Acts as the primary contact regarding construction claims inquiries from underwriters, agents, and insureds, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and prompt resolution of concerns
Provides insights and feedback internally (e.g., Claims, Loss Control, and Underwriting) and externally (e.g., Insureds and Agents) on construction accounts.
Collaborate with both internal and external partners on initiatives and projects that enhance Central’s value chain and competitive advantage within the Construction sector
Provides support to on-site meetings with clients to perform claim reviews, deliver training, share industry updates, and work with loss control teams to mitigate loss frequency and severity
Facilitates the onboarding process for new accounts by explaining claims procedures, defining roles, and establishing communication channels
Participates in pre-renewal account reviews and pre-inspection surveys of potential new clients, and addresses escalated agent and client service needs, serving as a dedicated liaison to large account clients
Partners closely with Underwriting, Loss Control, and Distribution teams to create customized solutions that meet clients' unique needs
Cultivates strong relationships with insureds, agents, and internal teams to foster a collaborative culture and drive service excellence
Builds on Construction expertise through attendance at webinars, seminars and other industry events. Brings back knowledge gained externally to internal business partners through emails, training and/or a newsletter
Assist Loss Control in completing claim trend analysis to include: generating and analyzing loss run reports, identifying claim frequency, severity, and trends
Reviews claim files to identify coverage gaps and lessons learned, sharing insights with Loss Control and Underwriting, and highlighting effective risk management strategies that reduced claim severity
Identify recurring causes of loss and in conjunction with Loss Control, propose corrective actions or process improvements to insureds for claim prevention strategies
Assist actuarial team to ensure accurate claims reserves on book of business
Provide input to underwriters and agents during policy reviews and renewal discussions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management related field and 4 years of insurance experience including the handling of high complexity, high severity claims including construction
Or 6 years of insurance experience including the handling of high complexity, high severity claims including construction
Valid Driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in complex coverage analysis and significant large loss evaluations
Achieved or working toward CRIS (Construction Risk Insurance Specialist) designation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively, presentation, and influence skills
Knowledge of Claims, Underwriting, Loss Control, and Actuarial functions
Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions
Advanced claims negotiation and resolution skills; Advanced knowledge of insurance and claim handling principles
Ability to travel to assigned agents, conferences, etc. including overnight
Possess a positive, professional, cooperative, and quality-conscious service attitude
Ability to professionally interact with our customers
Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
