CHAOS is seeking Electrical Engineer Interns for Summer 2027! This is a paid, in-person, 12-week internship role where you will spend the summer doing real hardware work, designing electronics from concept to functional prototype, including hardware selection, PCB design, and system-level integration. You will work alongside staff engineers to design, prototype, test, and ship real hardware systems.
Responsibilities

- →Build Prototypes: Bring up initial hardware designs and troubleshoot prototype assemblies in the lab.
- →Test & Validate: Use advanced lab equipment to verify system performance and signal integrity.
- →Collaborate: Work cross-functionally with software, mechanical, and systems teams to integrate hardware.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree OR master’s degree in electrical engineering or related fields.
- You've designed and tested a custom circuit board (it doesn't need to have worked - we'd love to hear about it!)
- You've worked on a project in or out of school that moved under its own power (plane, car, boat, quadcopter, rocket, balloon, rocket on a balloon, submarine, rover, etc. - we're not picky)
- You've collaborated on the above two things as part of a group - school club, competition team, as part of a job/internship, or just with friends.
- In your application, we'd love to see either a sample of work you're proud of or a short note about your prior experience and how it relates to the three points above.
Requirements
~1 min read- Familiarity with embedded Linux development, including device trees, hardware drivers, bootloaders, and basic Unix/Linux tools.
- Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent electronic design automation tools.
- Proficiency with C/C++, Python, and common languages.
We're looking for someone who is genuinely curious about how things get built, comfortable being wrong in front of people who know more, and eager to move fast in a cross-disciplinary environment.
- Hourly rate for this position in the selected city is $30-$45 (competitive hourly rate by discipline and level).
- Relocation- relocation package for non-local interns.

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits.
