What you’ll do:
The Brass Tacks
Open and close the facility according to scheduled hours
Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety, enforcing all safety rules for the pool.
Administers first aid to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers.
Maintains amenities and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms and showers, including stocking supplies as needed.
Enforces the rules of conduct.
Performs pool maintenance to include checking chemicals and pool vacuuming.
Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items to management in a timely fashion.
Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggest pool-side games.
Skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use, empties automatic skimmer.
Straightens the pool area at the end of the day.
Maintains all necessary records determined by the Department Manager.
Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Attends staff meetings
The Nitty Gritty
Current Red Cross Lifeguarding or YMCA Lifeguarding certification
Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Rating preferred
Skill in basic swimming strokes, including but not limited to breast stroke, crawl stroke, side stroke and elementary back stroke
Ability to communicate effectively with members, co-workers and management
Must be able to work through Labor Day including South Whidbey High School graduation.
