Seal Shop - Machinist 3rd shift

MACHINIST (3rd Shift: 11:00pm-7:30am) Job Summary The Machinist operates and programs computer numerically controlled (CNC) and manual machinery, including grinding and milling machines, to produce and repair high-quality, precision parts. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a proactive approach to efficiency. This role requires a safety-conscious team player capable of interpreting complex blueprints and working effectively with minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and manual machine tools to fabricate or repair precision components, working within tight tolerances.- Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machine setups, procedures, and optimal machining sequences.- Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure product conformity.- Utilize and interpret various precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers (ID/OD/depth), calipers, and pi tapes, to inspect parts and ensure they meet specifications.- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.- Adjust machine feeds, speeds, and tool offsets as needed to maintain high-quality production.- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and ensure consistent performance.- Operate overhead cranes safely to handle materials and parts.- Maintain accurate inspection documentation and production records.- Communicate effectively within a team environment and with supervisors to ensure priorities and assignments are met efficiently.- Demonstrate a continuous commitment to improving efficiency, productivity, and quality.- Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and maintain excellent housekeeping standards. Qualifications- Experience with equipment such as CNC 3-axis, 5-axis, machining, grinding, milling, surface grinding, creep feed grinding- Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent manual dexterity.- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical documents, and work instructions.- Intermediate mathematical skills for measurement, testing, and problem-solving.- Solid critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring work is consistently precise.- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook.- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Education and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent is required.- A trade school certificate or specialized education in machining is preferred.- Previous experience operating CNC and/or manual machinery is highly valued but not required for entry-level applicants.
