FACILITIES ATTENDANT
 

Position Type: Temporary Part Time

Salary: $18.53 per hour, plus shift premium where applicable

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Reporting to the Supervisors, Facilities Operations, the Facilities Attendants are responsible for supporting the operation and cleanliness of the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre, and other facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will:
  • Provide timely, accurate information to the Supervisors, Facilities Operations and respond to the decisions and directions generated by same.
  • Make sound and safe decisions as it relates to the upkeep of the facilities, personal behaviour, and health and safety.
  • Complete tasks using proper procedures and escalate to Supervisors where required.
  • Promote good public relations giving the City of Belleville a positive public image.
  • Assist in maintaining the facility through ice maintenance and custodial cleaning as prescribed by the Supervisors, Facilities Operations such as;
    • Cleaning bathrooms
    • Mopping, dusting sweeping
    • Garbage collection and removal
    • Clearing clutter, snow, and ice ensuring entrances are clear
    • Moving nets; shoveling snow from ice surface
    • Glass cleaning
    • Etc.
  • Complete setups in meeting rooms, common areas, arenas, gym space, and other duties as required, involving staging, chairs, tables, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist the user groups utilizing the building facilities without hindrance to general duties.
  • Communicate professionally, and effectively with staff, tenants, contractors, and members of the general public, promoting a high standard of customer service.
  • Perform all tasks and responsibilities through the lens of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, ensuring commitment to fairness, representation, accessibility and respect for diverse perspectives and cultures in all aspects of work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/TRAINING/SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
 
  • At minimum high school diploma in progress
  • Candidates must have their own safety boots
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) and Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Entry level position
  • Experience within a rink setting and work related to ice maintenance
  • Pool and custodial experience.
  • Experience with a floor machine, swing buffer,
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
