The Risk Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and logistical support to the Risk Management Division by assisting the Risk Manager with the implementation of a broad range of risk management responsibilities including property and casualty and Workers’ Compensation claims management; the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance; quarterly meetings of the Safety and Liability Board (SLRB), City-wide safety training, the Department of Transportation commercial driver’s license (CDL) random testing program, and damaged property recovery coordination. The incumbent is the first point of contact for visitors and callers to the Human Resources and Risk Management Department. Responsibilities include greeting guests, handling routine inquiries, and directing individuals to appropriate staff. The role involves specialized or technical tasks requiring familiarity with federal regulations and City policies, and the ability to handle confidential and time-sensitive materials. Work is performed with general guidance and minimal supervision in an office setting during standard business hours.

Essential Job Functions

- Property & Casualty Claims Management. Assists the Risk Manager with general claims handing tasks, which include claims reporting and verification and processing of deductible invoices.
- Workers’ Compensation Claims Management. Receives and processes Workers’ Compensation first report or injury (WC-1) filings. Assists in monitoring treatment and return-to-duty of injured employees.
- Administrative and Logistical Support. Supports the Risk Manager in general administrative and logistical tasks relating to ADA compliance, insurance renewal process, membership renewals, mandatory report submissions, random drug testing, SLRB accident review meetings, safety training, invoice processing, coordination of damaged property recovery funds, and budget reclassification.
- Records Management. Maintains and organizes files/documentation. Researches various records and files. Responds to open records requests for court cases and arbitration hearings as needed. Retrieves and provides information according to department policy and procedures. Maintains records related to the City of Marietta’s Drug and Alcohol testing policy.
- General Operations Support. Performs office reception duties including receiving telephone calls and providing information on routine questions. Refers difficult or unusual situations to relevant staff. Serves as the main point of contact for a range of staff and external stakeholders. Monitors office supply inventory and prepares requisitions for supplies, printing, and other services. Maintains and updates appropriate account balances and reconciles issues.
- Performs related duties as directed.
- Associate’s degree.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in administrative capacity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and videoconferencing tools such as MS Teams and Zoom.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English and general math.
- Considerable knowledge of project management concepts and techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including tact and diplomacy in communicating with a wide variety of customers regarding compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Strong time management skills, prioritizing timely delivery of tasks.
- Ability to sit and operate a personal computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability and willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to understand and interpret financial relationships both from budget aspects and market data.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, maintain confidentiality and adhere to established routines and practices.
- Good composition and editing skills.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- May be required to become a Notary Public at city expense.
