Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Arenas & Recreation Facilities or designate, responsibilities will include:
  • The maintenance and efficient operation of arena facilities, their equipment, and attendant service areas;
  • Has charge of and operates the refrigeration plant, which includes draining oil traps, adding oil to system, recording pressures and temperatures every two hours on shift;
  • Ensures all regulations and working orders are implemented;
  • Maintains records and prepares reports; responsible to move and lift various items including, but not limited to hockey nets, propane tanks, banquet tables and chairs, garbage etc.;
  • Maintains amiable relations with the public and fellow staff.
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program. 
  • Will perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus up to one (1) year of post secondary school in related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
  • Must have over one (1) year experience using arena equipment, including ice resurfacing;
  • Must hold and maintain a current Standard First Aid, Basic Rescuer CPR and Defibrillator Certificate;
  • Must hold and maintain a current, valid and lawful Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a Driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must complete a post-offer agility test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job;
  • Must maintain good public and personnel relations;
  • Must be able to keep records and write reports;
  • Must be able to climb ladders when the occasion demands.
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a medium level of work;
