Reporting to the Data Center Infrastructure Manager, 11:11 Systems is looking for an experienced Data Center Technician to assist with data center operations across 11:11 Systems' global cloud infrastructure with travel 75% of the time. Candidates will need to have experience in the installation and management of physical infrastructure hardware assets, with a focus on compute, storage, and network hardware, as well as experience with related peripherals. This is a full-time on-site role, based in Sydney (with outstanding candidates in Brisbane and Melbourne also considered), reporting to the Data Center Infrastructure Manager, and requiring up to 75% travel and second-shift hours when not travelling.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to 11:11 Systems data centers both nationally and internationally for build-out projects.
  • Travel between local data center locations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane as required.
  • Collaborate with the Data Center Operations, Infrastructure Deployment, and Cloud Operations teams to provide on-site physical support for all implementation projects.
  • Track and audit asset and component inventory at data center locations.
  • Assist with all efforts requiring local presence within the data center, including equipment tracking, cabling, labeling, troubleshooting, and shipping of assets.
  • Act as the local point of contact for all vendor service activities.
  • Participate and collaborate in capacity management efforts for both infrastructure and facilities planning.
  • Demonstrate the ability and initiative to learn and participate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow infrastructure project planning and implementation processes.
  • Act as a point of contact for other departments for data center issues and projects.
  • Work non-standard hours as needed to perform change management and emergency requests.
  • Participate in the on-call rota when not travelling.
  • Work supportively with colleagues, operating in a manner that is consistent with 11:11's Code of Business Ethics and Company Values.
  • Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle company data and information per Company data handling agreements, work procedures and policies.
  • Review and follow company policies and guidelines, data privacy practices, including annual compliance training certification and policy acknowledgements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting data center operations, infrastructure deployments, or colocation environments required.
  • Experience working with data center hardware, cabling, power, and network infrastructure, and coordinating third-party vendors and service providers required.
  • Experience with DCIM platforms and asset management systems, and familiarity with colocation facilities and carrier connectivity services preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation, CDCP, or similar industry certification preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively across global teams, and maintain a customer-focused mindset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time and to work second-shift hours when not travelling.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Australia without visa sponsorship.

Travel-intensive role requiring frequent air and ground travel (up to 75% of working time), including both domestic and occasional international trips. Regular on-site work in data center environments, including prolonged periods of standing and walking within facilities. Ability to handle and move equipment or packages associated with data center logistics, in line with reasonable accommodation guidelines. Ability to work in environments with typical data center conditions, including noise levels, temperature-controlled spaces, and use of personal protective equipment where required.
