We're looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team!
As a registered nurse on a multidisciplinary Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) team, to support other professionals through the provision of expertise regarding client medical needs and linkages between mental health and primary health care. To provide nursing support in a case management role to a caseload of youth and emerging adults (14 to 35 years of age) experiencing the early manifestation of psychosis and related mental health concerns as they work towards recovery. Service is provided in partnership with the client and their family (if possible), SHIP (Supportive Housing in Peel), PCHS (Punjabi Community Health Services), and other CMHA programs and relevant community agencies. Services are delivered using the Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) model and incorporate principles of the NAVIGATE Coordinated Specialty Care framework, including recovery-oriented practice, family engagement, resiliency, shared decision-making, and community integration.
Status: Permanent full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Availability Monday - Friday. Note, this posting is for an active vacancy.
Salary: $75,509.31 - $89,160.03 annually. (Candidate qualifications will be considered when determining the starting salary)

What You Will Do:
- Establishing a supportive, ongoing relationship with clients and their support systems consistent with Early Psychosis Intervention and NAVIGATE principles.
- Developing a Crisis Plan with each client and their support to support and maintain client wellness
- Developing comprehensive assessments with clients and supports to identify client strengths and needs
- Establishing and implementing Recovery Plans to guide the mutual work towards client recovery
- Supporting clients and families using evidence-informed Early Psychosis Intervention practices and principles of the NAVIGATE Coordinated Specialty Care model.
- Through the integration of psychopharmacology knowledge, develop individual plans to support complex physical and mental health client needs and support shared decision making and health maintenance processes within the team.
- Monitoring psychiatric symptoms, medication effectiveness, side effects, and physical health concerns associated with psychosis and its treatment.
- Providing on-going supportive counselling, life skills coaching, pre-employment coaching and appropriate referrals to enable clients to achieve their goals
- Consulting, advocating and liaising with community resources and agencies to assist clients in achieving their goals
- Monitoring clients’ mental health and initiating intervention to promote wellness
- Providing education on mental health, illnesses and wellness to clients and their families/other supports
- Providing ongoing support and referrals for families, as needed
- Establishing a follow-up plan for clients prior to discharge

What You Need to Join Our Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSCN) preferred.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Certification in mental health nursing CPMHN and/or relevant mental health experience.
- 2-3 years community experience with individuals living with significant mental health issues.
- Excellent assessment, crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to establish therapeutic, supportive relationships with client/family/caregivers/community agencies by utilizing skilled interviewing and communication techniques and appropriate nursing interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible in work assignments.
- Advanced knowledge of psychotropic medication.
- Working knowledge of chemical dependency, including the pathophysiology of substance abuse and withdrawal.
- Venipuncture skill and experience is an asset.
- Good working knowledge of Recovery Model.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
- Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework.
- Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
- Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
