Since starting in 2012, CMW Geosciences has expanded to 20 offices with over 300 employees across Australia and New Zealand. We are hard-working, down-to-earth, and passionate engineers and geologists who provide quality geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and design advice to the construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

As part of the Kiwa Group, we're backed by a global network of 12,000+ staff across 35+ countries

We are looking to bring on a Junior Geotechnical Engineer on a full time 6-month fixed term contract based in our Darwin Office.

CMW Geosciences Graduates or Junior Engineers fulfill our field-based roles. A typical day would include going to site to complete manual field work tasks and testing. Onsite testing might include logging rock and soil bore holes, undertaking hand augers or observing machine excavated test pits. On our construction sites you would be observing piling, retaining walls or ground improvement sites.

If you're in the office, you would likely be processing logs and soil samples, writing technical reports and assisting project managers with deliverables.

Our range of projects are diverse across countries and offices: you could be communicating design elements to contractors on a community housing development in Rotorua. Or, be in regional Queensland at the MacIntyre Windfarm, carrying piling supervision and providing construction phase support. Or, across the country in Perth at Jandakot Airport undertaking CPT testing, dynamic cone penetrations testing, infiltration testing and hand auger boring.

  • A Civil Engineering Degree
  • Ability to complete strenuous fieldwork tasks
  • Ability to travel when required
  • A full Australian driver's license
  • A desire to work outside with a love of rocks, soil and geology
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Additional Day Leave on Birthday
  • Ability to earn overtime and/or time in Lieu
  • Office social events throughout the year
  • Excellent learning environment as well as an inclusive team environment
