About the Role
~1 min readWe are looking for a dynamic individual who is a self-starter, and who will take ownership of actively generating profitable business from an assigned group of brokers, and partner closely with our Sales organization. The Associate Underwriter will primarily underwrite and manage a wide range of products, including Coalition’s Cyber, Technology E&O and Security products. The ideal candidate will have the ability to educate both brokers and customers on how to keep their businesses actively protected. If this sounds like you, we would love to speak with you.
This is a fully remote position that can be based anywhere in the Northeastern region of the United States.Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Underwrite new and renewal accounts within defined authority, while maintaining alignment to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and carrier requirements.
- →Build and grow relationships with brokers, while developing the judgment and market fluency needed to operate more independently over time.
- →Maintain disciplined underwriting files, documentation, and internal tool usage in line with Coalition’s workflows and governance standards.
- →Participate in broker and client meetings, with growing responsibility for external presentation, account strategy, and underwriting rationale.
- →Work closely with Sales and Product partners to position Coalition’s cyber and technology offerings clearly and credibly in market-facing conversations.
- →Develop foundational comfort with coverage structures, underwriting rationale, and wording-related discussions to escalate thoughtfully and contribute effectively on more tailored placements.
- →Partner with Coalition’s security team and other cross-functional partners where needed to help address risk issues, improve client outcomes, and support profitable growth.
- →Regular travel required for broker relationship management, client meetings, education, and market-facing activity, typically at a lower range than more senior levels.
Requirements
~1 min read- Experience in commercial insurance, account management, or a related broker-facing environment.
- Ability to analyze risks associated with underwriting and pricing decisions using established policies, guidelines, and authority parameters.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and marketing skills, with the ability to represent Coalition professionally with brokers and clients.
- Growth mindset and learning orientation, with comfort taking feedback and developing deeper technical underwriting and coverage knowledge over time.
- Emerging presentation skills and client presence, especially important in larger-account underwriting environments.
What We Offer
~1 min readOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $75,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $100,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
