We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team in Corpus Christi, Texas. The CWI will play a critical role in supporting welder performance qualification testing, welding procedure development, code compliance, and quality assurance for clients in industrial, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemical, pipeline, and related welding environments.
- Facilitate welder performance qualifications testing to ASME/AWS/API code.
- Perform visual inspections of welds, materials, in accordance with AWS, ASME, API, and customer specifications.
- Conduct pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections.
- Review and interpret WPS/PQR/WPQR documentation, and quality specifications.
- Monitor welding operations to ensure compliance with approved welding procedures and quality standards.
- Identify non-conformances, deficiencies, and quality deviations; recommend and track corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, quality documentation, calibration records, and traceability records.
- Support QA/QC initiatives, audits, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, operations, and customer representatives to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
- Assist with procedure qualification activities.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and customer site requirements.
- Participate in client meetings as required.
- Support nondestructive testing (NDT) coordination including UT, MT, PT, and RT activities when applicable.
- Maintain professionalism and strong customer relationships while representing the company in the field and fabrication environments.
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of welding inspection, fabrication, or QA/QC experience in industrial, manufacturing, structural steel, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy equipment environments.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Sec. IX, API 1104, & AWS D1.1 and related welding codes/specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Welding symbols
- Engineering drawings and blueprints
- Familiarity with FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and other common welding processes.
- Experience with fabrication inspections, weld fit-up verification, and dimensional inspections.
- Knowledge of QA/QC documentation practices and inspection reporting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, PDFs, email, and digital inspection reporting systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
