Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Planner/Scheduler to support the successful execution of various civil infrastructure projects and manufacturing operations across Western Canada. This role works directly with our talented project and operational personnel to develop, maintain, and analyze detailed construction and manufacturing schedules that drive project and operational success. The Planner/Scheduler ensures schedules are logic‑driven, realistic, and fully aligned with field execution strategies and operational means and methods to support on‑time and predictable project delivery.

 

The ideal candidate brings strong construction scheduling experience, a practical understanding of field operations, and the ability to proactively identify schedule risks, assess impacts, and recommend effective mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling
•    Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to develop and maintain integrated project baseline schedules (typically Level 3–5).
•    Develop logic driven schedules with clearly defined dependencies, sequencing, and critical path logic.
•    Apply appropriate Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and perform resource, crew, and productivity loading where required.
•    Ensure schedule alignment with construction methodology, quantities, and execution strategy.


Progress Measurement & Control
•    Support operations through participation in planning, coordination, and look ahead meetings.
•    Prepare and analyze monthly progress updates, including assessment of: 
        o    Critical path changes
        o    Float consumption
        o    Schedule slippage and impacts
•    Support earned value analysis (EVA) where applicable to assess performance and forecast outcomes.
•    Track and manage key milestones, constraints, and contractual deliverables.

 

Reporting – Internal & External
•    Prepare and maintain schedule reports for: 
        o    Project management teams
        o    Clients
        o    Executive leadership
•    Develop dashboards and reporting tools highlighting: 
        o    Current and forecasted critical path
        o    Key milestones and commitments
        o    Variance to baseline schedule
        o    Forecast completion dates


Risk Management & Change Support
•    Support change management and schedule impact analysis using accepted methodologies (e.g., Time Impact Analysis, window analysis, impacted-as-planned).
•    Proactively identify schedule risks, potential delays, and constraint impacts.
•    Develop and communicate recovery and mitigation options early to support informed decision making.

Scheduling Software 
•    Primavera P6
•    Microsoft Project


Data & Productivity Tools
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel 
        o    formulas, pivot tables, data validation
•    Familiarity with: 
        o    Power BI
        o    SharePoint / project document systems


Experience & Education
•    Engineering (civil, mechanical, industrial) or Construction Management diploma or degree
•    Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience working in planning/scheduling
•    Certifications in project controls, scheduling or project management (PMP, PMI-SP. AACE PSP/CCP) considered and asset
