Job Description:

Wapiti Gravel Suppliers, a division of N.P.A. is hiring a Breakdown Roller Operator for the 2026 construction season!

Responsibilities

→Operate the rollers and other heavy equipment in a safe manner
→Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
→Determine the speed and direction of the machines so that ridges do not form from excessive pressure
→Use hand roller or portable power roller to pound surfaces not accessible to road roller.
→Operator self-propelled steel-wheeled, rubber-tired, vibrator, segments or other type of roller to company earth, subgrade, sub-base and asphalt surfaces.
→Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Roller.
→Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees, sub- contractors and consultants to adoptsafety as a culture.
→Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
→Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics
→Other quality control related duties as required.
→Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
→Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
Class 5 Drivers License preferred
Minimum 2 years experience within the road construction industry
2-3 years experience operating Breakdown Roller, Rubber Tire Roller and Finish Rollers is required.

Weather dependent schedule of Monday to Saturday, consisting of up to 12 hours. Overtime is paid in accordance with local employment standards legislation.
Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
