Compensation Range for Laborers:

• $22.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary 

This laborer position is responsible for performing a range of manual labor duties to support the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utility construction services. A laborer will perform tasks that assist construction crews in the buildout of fiber networks. In this position you are learning and taking direction from onsite foreman, pot-holing, running parts and materials, assisting equipment operators with signaling safe movement, and operating construction hand tools and other small engine tools or equipment. 

Essential Functions

• Perform physical labor tasks in preparation for trenching, plowing, and directional bore drilling
• Digging with shovels, pot holing to expose and identify utilities, and mixing bore mud
• Perform site restoration work
• Safely and securely load and unload construction equipment and materials
• Must comply with all safety requirements and participate in required safety training
• Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements

• High School Diploma or the equivalent in knowledge and training required
• Ability to read instructions and take work direction verbally and in writing
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
• Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass background check
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing

Preferred Requirements

• Class A CDL, not required but ability to obtain this license is preferred

This position requires frequent periods of standing, walking, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling, lifting, and twisting.  Close, peripheral, and distant visual abilities are needed including depth perception.  Requires ability to lift arms above shoulders.  Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.  The work environment is frequently loud and requires the employee to work in a variety of weather elements including extreme cold and heat.
