Compliance Management International (CMI) is actively hiring an experienced Construction Safety Manager / Construction Safety Specialist to support an immediate project need. This is a hands-on field leadership role for a safety professional who enjoys working in fast-paced construction environments and partnering with project teams to deliver safe, compliant, and successful projects.

Responsibilities

You'll serve as the on-site safety leader, working closely with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and project management to ensure every phase of construction is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA and client requirements.

  • Serve as the primary safety resource for project leadership, contractors, and trade partners.
  • Build a proactive, positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and visible field leadership.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors while implementing corrective actions.

Lead critical safety programs including:

  • Pre-Task Planning (PTPs)
  • Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Permit-required work
  • Incident investigations
  • Facilitate site orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety training.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and client safety requirements.
  • Monitor high-risk work including:
  • Electrical safety
  • Fall protection
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Confined space entry
  • Crane operations and critical lifts
  • Hot work permitting
  • Support contractor compliance, safety observations, corrective action tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate safety reports, inspections, and project documentation.

Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways:

  • Experience supporting General Contractors on large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
  • Data center construction experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience using gas monitors, noise meters, or other industrial safety monitoring equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
  • Working knowledge of high-risk construction activities and safe work planning.
  • Excellent hazard recognition, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems.
  • Ability to work the assigned 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM shift.
  • Flexibility to work overtime based on project demands.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance unless traveling for the project.
  • Travelers are welcome. Project-specific per diem may be available for qualified candidates.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time construction safety management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time construction safety management experience
  • One of the following professional certifications:
    • CSP
    • CIH
    • ASP
    • CHST
  • Minimum of 6 years of full-time construction safety management experience
  • Current OSHA 500 certification

This is an active field position requiring daily presence on a construction site.

Responsibilities include:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Climbing ladders and working at heights
  • Entering confined spaces
  • Navigating uneven terrain
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Working in varying weather conditions as project demands require
