Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Location: De Soto, Kansas

CMI is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to support a large-scale manufacturing operation in De Soto, KS. This is a full-time, 100% on-site position focused on monitoring, analyzing, and managing key Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) data to identify trends and support injury and incident reduction efforts.
The successful candidate will work closely with EHS leadership and operations teams to evaluate safety performance, identify areas of risk, and develop and prioritize corrective action plans. This position is well suited for an EHS professional who has a strong interest in data management, safety analytics, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Monitor, collect, analyze, and report key EHS performance data and metrics.
- →Identify safety trends, recurring hazards, and opportunities for injury and incident reduction.
- →Partner with operations and EHS teams to develop and prioritize corrective action plans.
- →Maintain and utilize EHS data management and safety software systems.
- →Support tracking of incidents, injuries, corrective actions, and other key EHS performance indicators.
- →Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of safety initiatives and corrective actions.
- →Provide accurate EHS reports and data analysis to support management decision-making.
- →Collaborate with site personnel to promote continuous improvement in workplace safety.
- →Support overall site EHS programs and compliance initiatives as needed.
Requirements
~2 min read- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and professional EHS experience will be considered.
- Previous EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience with EHS data management, analysis, and safety software systems.
- Strong interest in utilizing EHS data and analytics as a significant component of the position.
- Ability to analyze safety performance data, recognize trends, and help develop practical corrective actions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with EHS professionals, operations personnel, and site leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable EHS data management systems.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in De Soto, KS.
- Ability to routinely walk and stand for extended periods in an active manufacturing environment.
- Ability to move throughout production, operational, and administrative areas of the facility.
- Ability to periodically bend, stoop, climb stairs, and access work areas as necessary to support EHS activities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to perform computer and desk-based work for extended periods while conducting EHS data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while entering designated operational areas.
