The Role 

As a Level Designer at Compulsion Games, you will be responsible for designing and crafting immersive and engaging game levels that align with the game’s vision and mechanics. You will work closely with game designers, environment artists, and programmers to create memorable player experiences through level layout, gameplay pacing, and environmental storytelling. 

You will be involved in the creation, iteration, and fine-tuning of levels to ensure gameplay balance, fluid navigation, and interactive world-building. 



Responsibilities 

  • Design, prototype, and implement engaging and well-balanced game levels. 
  • Work with game designers and environment artists to ensure gameplay and visual harmony. 
  • Integrate narrative elements into level layouts to support storytelling. 
  • Implement interactive elements and gameplay mechanics using scripting tools. 
  • Conduct playtests and analyze player feedback to improve level flow and pacing. 
  • Optimize level layouts for performance, navigation, and player immersion. 
  • Work closely with the programming team to ensure smooth technical implementation. 
  • Maintain documentation and guidelines for level design standards. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in level design. 

 

Skills and Experience:
 

 

  • 2+ years of experience in level design (AAA or indie experience preferred). 
  • Strong knowledge of level design principles, player flow, and spatial storytelling. 
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine and level-building tools. 
  • Experience with scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, or similar) is a plus. 
  • Ability to analyze playtests and iterate on level design accordingly. 
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills. 
  • Passion for game development and creating engaging worlds.
