This safety sensitive position (SS) purpose is to maintain tires on rolling equipment and assist in the preventive maintenance of Public Works equipment.
Responsibilities
~1 min read1. Maintain tires, wear on rubber tired equipment. This duty is performed daily.
2. Change and repair tires on vehicles and heavy equipment for public works department. This duty is performed daily.
3. Perform roadside repair on rubber tired equipment as needed. This duty is performed daily.
4. Properly dispose of tires. This duty is performed daily.
5. Assist mechanics in a variety of mechanical, hydraulic and chassis repairs as scheduled. This duty is performed daily.
6. Pick up parts from vendors as necessary. This duty is performed daily.
7. Maintain clean work area. This duty is performed daily.
8. Attend training and safety classes as required. This duty is performed daily.
9. Operating a city vehicle is required for the essential functions.
10. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum requirement; general educational background without high school completion, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
