ContextGlobal, Inc. is hiring multiple full-time Educational ASL Interpreters to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff across DC Public Schools. You'll be embedded in a partner school for the full school year, working with teachers, students, staff, and visiting professionals who rely on ASL as their primary mode of communication.
This is a school-calendar role — you'll work the academic year and have summers and school breaks off, with the option to pick up supplemental assignments if you want them.
What You'll Do
- Provide ASL interpretation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff across academic and social settings
- Voice for students and staff, and interpret for teachers, colleagues, and visiting professionals
- Collaborate with the school's special education and IEP teams
- Build trusting, age-appropriate relationships with students and families
Required Qualifications
- EIPA 3.5+ OR NIC Certification (required)
- Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited ITPs preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of professional sign language interpreting experience
- Strong working knowledge of K–12 educational vocabulary
- Proficiency in ASL and strong understanding of Deaf culture and ethical standards (RID Code of Professional Conduct)
- Proficient signing and voicing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
Pay & Benefits
- $40–$50 per hour, based on certification level and experience

Interview Process
We review every application and reach out to qualified applicants within 2 business days to schedule an interpreting screening. Applicants who advance will then be invited to a brief video interview with our ASL team.
What to Expect After You're Hired
Because this position is in a public school, all hired interpreters are required to complete the following: a criminal background check with fingerprinting, a drug test, and a possible TB screening. ContextGlobal coordinates and covers the cost of these screenings.
