Lead Facility Worker - Civic Center Operations

Duties: The Lead Facility Worker is responsible for overseeing the daily physical operations, maintenance, and event readiness of multiple facilities located on a 100+ acre campus. This role ensures all venues are clean, safe, functional, and prepared to meet the needs of a wide variety of events. The position combines hands-on facility work with team leadership, coordinating staff assignments, monitoring operational standards, and supporting successful event execution from setup through breakdown. Coordinate and perform event setup and teardown, including arranging chairs, tables, staging, bleachers, risers, partitions, and other equipment according to event specifications. Install and assist with audiovisual components such as sound systems, lighting, video screens, spotlights, backdrops, and banners. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of facilities, including restrooms, floors (mopping, buffing, waxing), windows, fixtures, and common areas. Remove trash and debris from buildings and grounds; replace liners and ensure proper placement and maintenance of receptacles and dumpsters. Clean and maintain bleachers and seating areas to ensure safety and presentation standards are met. Monitor events to ensure compliance with fire codes, safety regulations, and facility policies; address issues to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Adjust and monitor HVAC systems to maintain appropriate climate conditions for events and occupants. Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pressure washers, and floor cleaning machines in a safe and effective manner. Perform minor facility repairs using power and hand tools. Operate City vehicles, including utility vehicles, cars, and trucks, as required. Develop and manage work schedules for Facility Workers, ensuring adequate coverage for events and daily operations while minimizing overtime. Assign and direct work tasks to Facility Workers and temporary staff, ensuring productivity, quality, and adherence to safety standards. Coordinate with other departments to fulfill service requests and support maintenance or operational projects. Plan and prioritize work activities for both routine maintenance and event preparation. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.

PREFERRED: Forklift operator certification. Experience operating scissor lifts and forklifts. General maintenance and repair experience. Proficiency with power and hand tools. Knowledge of sound, lighting, and staging systems
