Duties: The El Jardin Beach Attendant is a part-time, customer service–oriented position responsible for welcoming patrons, collecting and processing entrance or usage fees, and providing basic information to visitors at El Jardin Beach. This position plays a key role in ensuring a positive visitor experience by maintaining professionalism, accuracy in cash handling, and adherence to City and departmental policies. Greets patrons in a courteous and professional manner and provides general information regarding park rules, fees, hours of operation, and amenities. Collects entrance or usage fees and accurately processes cash and credit card transactions. Balances cash drawer and prepares payment documentation; turns in collected funds to the Parks Office in accordance with established procedures. Answers customer questions and addresses basic concerns; refers complaints or issues to the Manager, Assistant Manager, or Parks Supervisor as appropriate. Assists management staff with opening and closing procedures for the facility. Maintains cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas, including litter pick-up when needed. Monitors customer activity to ensure compliance with park rules and reports unsafe or inappropriate behavior to supervisory staff. Ensures supplies needed to perform duties are available and reports shortages to supervisors. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Cashiers are required to work late afternoons, evenings, weekends, and summer holidays. Performs closing duties as assigned, including securing facilities when required. Participates in required training; additional training may be assigned at the discretion of the Parks Office. Performs other related duties as assigned in support of Parks and Recreation Department operations.
Qualifications: Valid Texas Driver's License and a good driving record. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing for prolonged periods and occasional lifting, bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching. PREFERRED: Bilingual (English/Spanish). Previous customer service, cashier, or park-related experience. Experience handling cash or operating point-of-sale systems.
