DIS-TRAN Steel in Washington Court House, Ohio is looking for a Day Shift Quality Control Technician to join our team. The Quality Control Technician must be capable of performing quality inspection, welding inspection, fit up inspection, tolerance inspection, or other manufacturing inspection.  This position may require some 2nd shift coverage occassionally.

  • Performs quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interacts professionally with other employees and customers.

  • Communicates regularly with supervisor about Department issues.
  • Inspects, tests, or measures materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
  • Has authority and responsibility to hold production on a product or to stop a process due to quality concerns. Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, etc.
  • Reads blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
  • Records inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Marks items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
  • Notifies supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
  • Discards or rejects products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Collects or selects samples for testing or for use as models.
  • Writes tests or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints required.
  • Ability to read a tape measure required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience required.
  • Quality inspection experience, including the following, preferred: Welding inspection, Fit up inspection, Tolerance inspection
  • Other manufacturing inspection processes
