We are seeking a highly organized and communicative Probate Paralegal to join our dedicated Probate Team. This role is crucial in managing the second half of the probate process, ensuring that each matter progresses smoothly from accounting through to file closure. As a key contributor to our team, you will impact client satisfaction and operational efficiency, supporting our mission to offer exceptional legal guidance with precision and care.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Manage Probate Processes: Oversee the mid-to-late stages of probate matters, including preparing, reconciling, filing, and amending estate accountings; tracking court/county deadlines; responding to Register of Wills inquiries; and moving files through closure.
- →Client Communication: Cultivate strong relationships through regular updates, ensuring clients are informed and reassured throughout the process.
- →Deadline Management: Ensure all court and county deadlines are met, responding promptly to inquiries and minimizing corrections.
- →Document Handling: Maintain organized case files and manage documentation using Clio and Dropbox.
- →Collaborative Work: Partner with the on-site Probate Paralegal and attorneys to ensure seamless matter progression and teamwork.
- Paralegal Experience: Previous paralegal experience is required, with probate experience strongly preferred. Maryland probate experience is a plus, but transferable probate experience from other U.S. jurisdictions will be considered for candidates with strong accounting, organization, and communication skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Clio experience is strongly preferred, though similar legal case management system experience may be considered. Dropbox experience is helpful but trainable
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to clearly communicate with clients over long probate timelines and explain technical legal concepts professionally.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organization and detail orientation, managing long-duration legal matters effectively. Strong math skills and numerical accuracy are essential for preparing and reconciling probate accountings.
