Reports to: Director of Product Management & UX
Location: Remote - Canada
As our Senior Product Designer (UX), you will own the end-to-end UX experience across Sur La Table's e-commerce storefront, CMS-driven content surfaces, and internal tools — bringing cohesion to a brand where culinary inspiration, product discovery, and class enrollment intersect.

This role exists because we are investing in a more intentional, connected digital experience, and we need a senior designer who can both define the vision and execute against it with craft and speed. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Digital, and Data teams to evolve our design system, run CRO experiments, and shape a UX roadmap that drives measurable improvements in engagement and conversion.

Success at six months looks like a maturing design system with stronger component coverage, at least one major experience area meaningfully improved through testing and iteration, and UX established as a trusted strategic voice in product planning.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Digital, Content, and Data teams to define and evolve a clear UX vision and roadmap.
  • Translate business goals such as engagement, conversion, and brand positioning into meaningful user experiences.
  • Help establish UX as a strategic partner in product planning and decision making.
  • Champion a customer-centered culinary journey across e-commerce, content, and services.
  • Lead end-to-end design work from discovery and concepting through detailed design and delivery.
  • Design thoughtful, elegant experiences that balance premium aesthetics with usability and performance.
  • Build upon and mature an existing design system, strengthening patterns, components, and workflows to support consistent execution.
  • Design across multiple surfaces including storefront, CMS-driven experiences, and internal tools.
  • Partner closely with Data and Digital teams to inform and validate design decisions.
  • Support and help shape a strong CRO program through experimentation, testing, and iteration.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative insights to evaluate ideas and improve outcomes.
  • Design with accessibility, usability, and performance in mind.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate design system development, ideation, and exploration.
  • Leverage AI for rapid prototyping, concept generation, and design iteration.
  • Thoughtfully integrate AI into design workflows to improve efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Stay current on emerging AI capabilities and help the team adopt best practices.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, visual craft, and measurable impact on engagement or conversion.
  • Senior-level experience in UX or product design, with a focus on e-commerce or content-rich digital products.
  • Proven ability to design, scale, and maintain design systems across multiple surfaces.
  • Hands-on experience with CRO experimentation and usability testing.
  • Data-informed design mindset with comfort using qualitative and quantitative insights to guide decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern design workflows.
  • Practical experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Figma AI, or similar to support rapid ideation, prototyping, and system development.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, bring structure to evolving teams, and clearly articulate design rationale to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional partners and contributing to product planning without direct authority.
  • Experience designing for culinary, lifestyle, or premium retail brands.
  • Familiarity with headless CMS architectures and content-driven experience design.
  • Prior exposure to subscription, booking, or class-enrollment UX flows.
  • Experience working within a multi-brand or platform product organization.
  • The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.
  • Impact at the Experience Layer: Your design decisions will shape how millions of home cooks discover products, explore recipes, and book culinary classes — work that is visible, measurable, and central to the brand's digital growth strategy.
  • Grow Across the Stack: You will work at the intersection of UX strategy, design systems, CRO, and AI-enabled workflows — building a rare combination of skills that spans craft, experimentation, and modern tooling.
  • Own the UX Vision: This is a senior IC role with real autonomy — you will help define the UX roadmap, mature the design system, and influence how the team thinks about customer experience from discovery through checkout.
  • Competitive Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including paid time off, RRSP match, medical, dental, vision, supplemental coverage, and employee discounts across portfolio companies.
    1. Recruiter Screen: A 30-minute conversation with our recruiting team to discuss your background, the role, and what you are looking for in your next opportunity.
    2. Portfolio Review & Design Challenge: Share your portfolio and complete a short UX or product-focused challenge so we can understand your problem-solving approach, design thinking, and execution style.
    3. In-Person / Video Interviews: Participate in in-depth interviews with the Product and Engineering leadership team focused on your experience, design system work, CRO mindset, and cross-functional collaboration.
    4. Reference Checks: We will connect with a few professional references to learn more about how you work and the impact you have made.
    5. Offer: We move quickly for the right candidate.
