CSI Recruiting is working with one of the nation's premier upstream oil & gas companies in their search for an experienced and high-performing Senior Geological Engineer, an individual with a unique combination of strong Exploration and Development Geologist skills in addition to hands-on Reservoir Engineering experience. Their skillset needs are specific, but the work is essentially worldwide prospect generation and exploration. Functions Include: Geological Formation Evaluation: Analyzing geological data to evaluate the composition, structure, and properties of the geological formation in which oil & gas are trapped. Studying drilling data, rock samples, and seismic data to understand the geometry and distribution of petroleum reservoirs. Oil Reserve Forecasting: Using geological methods and reservoir models, estimate oil reserves present in an exploration prospect. This involves creating 3D models of reservoirs, analyzing production data, and using simulation techniques to predict reservoir behavior over time. Planning the Location of Boreholes: Based on the geological analysis, this role will play a crucial role in determining the optimal well locations. Geological Data Analysis: Analyze geological data, including drill cores, seismic data, and well records, to better understand the geology of the deposit. Utilize geological, geophysical, and reservoir modeling software to interpret the data and generate updated reservoir models. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the company's Reservoir Engineers, Geologists, Geophysicists, and Technicians to integrate geological aspects into the planning and exploitation of assets. Requirements Ideal candidates will have 10+ years of professional experience working within active exploration and production companies (not service companies or consulting firms). The right candidate will have a degree in Geology, Earth Science and/or Geophysics, preferably an MS, but at least a BS, and hopefully will have coursework, if not a BS degree, in Petroleum Engineering as well. Ideally, candidates will have experience generating commercially viable prospects in both conventional and unconventional plays, and across a variety of geographic regions. A "one-basin" specialist is not ideal for this position, nor is a candidate with only unconventional asset experience. This is an excellent role for someone seeking an opportunity to use the full breadth of their experience, bringing a decade or more of exploration and exploitation background to a firm that has both the budget and ambition to truly explore and find oil & gas.
