Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Communication Studies. Graduate Assistant must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program. The successful applicant will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. For subsequent appointment, evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree is required.

  • Admissions to the Master Program in the Department of Communication Studies, in good academic standing
  • Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
  • Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
  • Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

Good research skills, writing proficiency, agility in using educational technology, and an ability to mentor undergraduate students, are preferred.  Understanding of quantitative, qualitative, or rhetorical theories and research methods, as appropriate to the content of the assigned class, is also preferred.

Initial Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary schedule information for a Graduate Assistant- monthly: 12-month Classification is available based on the following ranges: (per salary schedule 7/1/2024)

Salary Range: $ 3,408 - $6,072
