PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a large state agency this class is accountable for directing agency communications and public relations programs.\r\n
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
This position will play a central role in:\r\n\r\n\r\n Communicating information related to public safety, agency operations, correctional facilities, rehabilitation initiatives, and community reintegration efforts;\r\n Leading media relations and managing strategic communications; and\r\n Responding to fast-moving situations and helping ensure accurate and timely public information dissemination.\r\n\r\n\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\n Experience representing an organization at media events, conferences, and public speaking engagements;\r\n Experience building and maintaining relationships with media, agency leadership, and other stakeholders;\r\n Experience creating written, edited, and designed communications that obtain measurable results and engage diverse audiences;\r\n Experience drafting press releases, agency testimony and executive level speeches;\r\n Experience developing crisis communication strategies that ensured timely, accurate information sharing and reduced misinformation;\r\n Experience in digital and traditional media platforms including social media;\r\n Experience performing communications, public relations, marketing, or media relations duties at progressively higher levels of responsibility;\r\n Experience planning and developing communications and media strategy;\r\n Experience conducting public relations and media training for agency staff; and\r\n Experience organizing and prioritizing high volume communications activities with measurable result.\r\n\r\n\r\n
