PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

This class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor in the operation of a large storeroom or a small warehouse; may supervise a major function of a very large warehouse in a large facility or agency (considering numbers supervised, inventory, and complexity).\r\n

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

\r\n\r\n\r\n Plans unit workflow and determines priorities; schedules, assigns, oversees, and reviews work;�\r\n Establishes and maintains unit procedures;�\r\n Provides staff training and assistance;�\r\n Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations;�\r\n Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies, and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;�\r\n Depending upon the location of a position, incumbents may perform tasks in one or more of such areas as receiving, shipping, storing, issuing, requisitioning or inventorying;�\r\n Orders supplies and materials from vendors based on prescribed specifications;�\r\n Achieves maximum turnover rate and control of obsolescence;�\r\n Inspects for quantity and quality of all incoming supplies;�\r\n Verifies shipments with vendors;�\r\n Insures adequate housekeeping and security of storage areas;�\r\n Operates, maintains and inspects equipment;�\r\n Maintains inventory and makes reports;�\r\n Codes and inventories furniture and equipment;�\r\n May make recommendations on policies or standards;�\r\n May prepare reports and correspondence;�\r\n May enter data into a computer;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

\r\n\r\n\r\n Knowledge of the principles and procedures of efficient warehousing and material handling including purchasing;�\r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;�\r\n oral and written communication skills;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to utilize computer software;�\r\n Supervisory ability.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Three (3) years of experience in stock or warehouse work or closely related work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of the General Experience must have involved the full range of stores duties, including receiving, storing, issuing, inventorying, inspecting, etc.\r\n\r\nNOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Storekeeper.\r\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n Experience supervising staff\r\n Experience with Core-CT or other computerized purchasing and inventory management systems\r\n Experience with warehouse and inventory control best practices\r\n Experience with a forklift, reach truck, Bobcat, and floor scrubber\r\n Experience with payloader equipment\r\n Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word\r\n Experience with written and oral communication in a professional setting\r\n Experience managing communication with internal and external customers\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permit and/or certifications.\r\n\r\nDEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION\r\n\r\n\r\n Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal, whenever their services are required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.\r\n A physical examination may be required.\r\n\r\n

WORKING CONDITIONS

\r\n Incumbents may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights;�\r\n May be exposed to weather conditions and may be required to handle hazardous materials/chemicals.\r\n\r\n
