Click�here�for more information\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS\r\n\r\n\r\n This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, Monday - Friday, and 40 hours per week with opportunities for a hybrid schedule that includes telework.\r\n The Media Coordinator will assist in public-facing messaging in order to fulfill PURA's mission to create and build a strong and continuous messaging platform, including maintaining PURA's website and social media accounts, assist with press and media efforts.�\r\n To ensure alignment with the public interest and policy goals, the Media Coordinator will play a key role in achieving a strong public following and greater interaction by the public in PURA's work.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n ABOUT US�\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) is statutorily-charged with ensuring that Connecticut's investor-owned utilities, including the state’s electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications companies, provide safe, clean, reliable, and affordable utility service and infrastructure. PURA’s mission is essential to advancing the state’s energy, economic, and environmental goals and is critical to maintaining public health and safety as well as a robust economy.� �\r\n �\r\n PURA is a quasi-judicial agency that interprets and applies the statutes and regulations governing all aspects of Connecticut’s utility sector. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for performing the most complex tasks in the design and preparation of hardcopy and electronic print formats for use on websites and printed materials and in the creation of visual representation or supporting media for complex engineering projects.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

\r\n\r\n Performs the most complex duties in design and preparation of hardcopy and electronic graphic artwork using various media, including representation of or creation of supporting media for engineering projects;�\r\n Confers with supervisors and others as to most appropriate media and method of design;�\r\n Makes freehand sketches and designs for special projects;�\r\n Provides consultation and instruction in special media techniques necessary to obtain the desired results;�\r\n Designs and prepares camera-ready material;�\r\n Produces displays including posters and film slides and builds three-dimensional scale models for either departmental use or public exhibit;�\r\n Performs a full range of graphic art activity;�\r\n May design and maintain websites;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

\r\n Considerable knowledge of the most effective techniques and methods used in graphic art, including freehand drawing, media materials such as water colors and oils, photographic art, and three-dimensional presentations;�\r\n Knowledge of and ability to utilize computer software including publishing and graphic design software;�\r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;�\r\n oral and written communication skills;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to\r\n \r\n comprehend and interpret plans and cross-section and contour data;�\r\n do highly creative work.\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years of experience in commercial or illustration art, or engineering drafting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in planning, designing, and preparing scale models and/or exhibits for public events or display.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training in fine arts or commercial art may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n An Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree in graphic design, marketing, or communications;\r\n Experience in graphic design, marketing or communications;\r\n Experience with Canva, Photoshop and PowerPoint;\r\n Experience in creating concepts, designs, and layouts for full-scale graphics, collateral, digital and print materials;\r\n Experience in the development of marketing or advertising campaigns;\r\n Experience in social media management, advertising, and content creation for Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram and YouTube;\r\n Experience with Content Management Systems; and\r\n Experience with managing more than two projects simultaneously while working independently.\r\n\r\n\r\n
