Are you looking to take the next step in your career?� If so, please read on to learn more about this exciting opportunity!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe State of Connecticut, Department of Aging and Disability Services (ADS), Bureau of Aging (BOA) is presently recruiting for a Research Analyst�to join our team.\r\n\r\n\r\nPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS:\r\n\r\n\r\n Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 7:30am - 4:00pm, typically Monday - Friday�\r\n Location: Hartford, CT\r\n Position Number: 34459\r\n Please note: This position requires both in state and out of state travel.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:\r\n \r\n \r\n Visit our new State Employee Benefits Overview page!\r\n Professional growth and development opportunities.\r\n A healthy work/life balance to all employees\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n THE ROLE:\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n This Research Analyst position will be responsible for\r\n assisting with all required Management Information Systems (MIS) work for the\r\n BOA, including statewide data collection, analysis, reporting and evaluation as\r\n well as technical support, under the direction of the BOA’s Associate Research\r\n Analyst.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Job duties include but are not\r\n limited to:\r\n \r\n \r\n Assist the Associate Research Analyst with data\r\n collection and analysis;\r\n Implement data collection tools including survey\r\n methodologies;\r\n Provide statistical and data analysis and the\r\n evaluation of qualitative and quantitative data;\r\n Provide technical support to staff and contractors\r\n for their data collection and reporting;\r\n Extract, apply and analyze data from multiple data\r\n sources including the Census Bureau and American Community Survey data to\r\n identify population needs for the State Plan on Aging and grant applications;\r\n Assist the Associate Research Analyst with the\r\n preparation and submission of the annual State Performance Report to the\r\n federal Administration for Community Living.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Our ideal candidates are self-starting individuals who are able to work both independently and as well as in a team-oriented environment. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in research design and implementation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

\r\n\r\n Develops and implements formal research projects and assists in these activities on more comprehensive and complex research assignments;\r\n Analyzes, interprets and prepares data in a variety of ways;\r\n Prepares narrative and statistical reports;\r\n Develops computerized databases and analyzes and interprets computer generated reports;\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

\r\n\r\n Knowledge of\r\n \r\n research methods and techniques;\r\n statistics;\r\n \r\n \r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;\r\n oral and written communication skills;\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to\r\n \r\n analyze data;\r\n develop programs and use prepackaged computer programs to perform data analysis;\r\n understand agency related policies and procedures as they relate to research.\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Six (6) years of professional experience in research, data analysis or economics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

\r\n College training may be\r\n substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester\r\n hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4)\r\n years for a Bachelor's degree.\r\n A Master's degree in\r\n economics, statistics or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1)\r\n additional year of the General Experience.\r\n Successful completion of a\r\n Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of\r\n Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.\r\n \r\n\r\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n Experience with data management.\r\n Experience with quantitative analysis, including\r\n inferential statistical techniques.\r\n Experience with developing and implementing data\r\n collection tools including utilizing survey methodologies.\r\n Experience with extracting and analyzing data from\r\n more than one source including data management systems or software platforms.\r\n Experience with aging or social services programs.\r\n\r\n\r\n
