- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $97,256 to $108,166 pa plus super
We’re looking for a motivated and community-focused Assistant Project Officer to help deliver biodiversity conservation projects that create positive outcomes for both the environment and Aboriginal communities.
In this role, you'll support project planning, research, reporting and coordination while working closely with stakeholders and Aboriginal communities. You'll help ensure Aboriginal knowledge, perspectives and priorities are reflected in biodiversity conservation and cultural land management initiatives.

- Support research, analysis and project planning activities.
- Assist with the delivery of biodiversity conservation projects and project outcomes.
- Help coordinate engagement activities with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.
- Contribute to initiatives that integrate Aboriginal knowledge into conservation and land management projects.

You are a well-organised and adaptable team member who enjoys working with people and contributing to meaningful projects. You have strong communication skills and can build respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and colleagues.
You have an interest in biodiversity conservation, cultural land management or community engagement and are comfortable supporting multiple priorities in a busy environment. Most importantly, you understand the importance of Aboriginal perspectives and can communicate with cultural awareness, sensitivity and respect.
- Experience providing project, administrative or coordination support.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal peoples and communities, and the ability to engage in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner.
Requirements
~1 min read- Ability to develop effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including Aboriginal peoples, communities and organisations.
- Understanding of contemporary public policy issues particularly those relating to the environment and Aboriginal communities in NSW.
- Experience in supporting program, project and policy development or implementation.
- Current Australian Driver’s License
- A willingness and ability to travel
