About the Role

As the Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance, you will play a critical leadership role in strengthening the Office of Sport's governance, risk and compliance capability. Leading a multi-disciplinary team, you will partner with senior executives, committees and key stakeholders to deliver trusted and customer focused advice, enterprise-wide risk management, assurance activities and governance frameworks that support informed decision-making and organisational integrity.  

This role also oversees key functions including compliance, internal audit, ministerial services, privacy and information access, ensuring the organisation meets its legislative and regulatory obligations while driving a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enhance enterprise governance, risk and compliance frameworks, providing strategic advice and assurance to Executive Leadership, employees, governance committees and stakeholders. 
  • Deliver a risk-based audit and assurance program, oversee organisational integrity functions, and ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and NSW Government obligations. 
  • Build and lead a high-performing team while driving continuous improvement, organisational capability uplift and a customer-focused approach to governance and risk management services across the organisation. 

 

You are an experienced governance, risk and compliance leader with a strong track record of providing strategic customer focused advice and influencing outcomes in complex environments. You bring exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, commercial judgement and the ability to translate complex legislative, risk and assurance requirements into practical business solutions. A collaborative and values-driven leader, you are passionate about building organisational capability, strengthening accountability and fostering a strong culture of integrity and continuous improvement. 

 

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading governance, risk, compliance, audit and assurance functions in a complex organisation. 
  • Proven ability to provide strategic, customer-focused advice and influence executive decision-making through effective stakeholder engagement. 
  • Strong knowledge of legislative, regulatory and NSW Government governance requirements, and their practical application. 
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement, organisational capability, accountability and service excellence. 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional certifications in governance, risk, audit, accounting, law or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. 
  • Current Working with Children Check clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
