National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for Project Officer role to work as part of the team and contribute to the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal and historic heritage.

The Project Officer role will promote consistent asset management practices aligned with organisational frameworks, standards, and policies, with a strong focus on asset management and data systems that support diverse visitor and operational infrastructure projects. This includes field data capture, verification and processing within NPWS asset registers and mapping systems, as well as technical support and training for field-based operational teams. The position also provides project delivery support by maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring asset system related project outcomes.  This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high performing team to support the achievement of organisational objectives and asset management outcomes.

The Project Officer will have a focus in supporting the delivery and operations of the Newcastle Area.

As a Project Officer, you are adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams across the Hunter Central Coast region.  Ideally, you have exposure to high-volume work within a large complex organisation or similar and have a strong attention to detail. You also have a passion working with data and asset management systems to support the delivery of outcomes in a changing and diverse work environment.

You are adept at problem solving, enjoy handling diverse and complex data, and bring strong technical and systems skills to your work. You are enthusiastic about learning and applying technological solutions, with experience using asset management and data systems. The role also involves undertaking field inspections to audit and collect asset data in remote natural locations, requiring a willingness to work remotely in national parks.

You’ll also be highly motivated and an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders both in person and through virtual networks.  You thrive being a team player who is proactive and demonstrates initiative at every opportunity. 

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
• Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
