  • Lead and mentor a capable financial business advisory team
  • Partner and provide advice directly to senior executive in a high-visibility role
  • Permanent full-time opportunity, 35 hours per week
  • Office based in Parramatta; flexible working supported
  • Salary relative to experience ranging from $173,121 to $191,993 + superannuation & annual leave loading

 

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water’s (DCCEEW) Finance Business Advisory team is a trusted partner to the business, working closely with senior executive leaders to provide strategic financial insight and guidance. The team plays a critical role in shaping decision-making, ensuring strong financial governance, and supporting the delivery of key organisational priorities.

We are currently recruiting for two Senior Manager roles across different portfolios (Energy Climate Change and Energy Climate Change Sustainability (ECCS) and Strategic Policy Science & Engagement (SPSC) / Conservation Programs Heritage & Regulations CPHR). These are newly created roles, offering the opportunity to work across varied business areas while delivering high-impact financial advice.

It’s a collaborative, high-performing group that values clear thinking, practical solutions, and continuous improvement. You will be joining a team that is well regarded for its expertise, strong stakeholder relationships, and ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment.

 

About the Role

This is a senior finance leadership role where you will act as a trusted partner to executives, helping shape strategic decisions across a large and complex operating environment. The role with also support the Chief Financial Officer and the Director.

You will lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, and provide clear, actionable insights that guide business performance and investment priorities. From developing business cases to supporting funding submissions and long-term financial planning, your work will directly influence key outcomes.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working at pace, engaging with senior stakeholders, and making a tangible impact through high-quality financial advice.

 

You are a confident and commercially minded finance professional who knows how to turn numbers into meaningful insights.

To be successful in this role, you bring:

  • Proven experience in a senior finance or advisory role within a complex organisation
  • The ability to build credibility and influence senior stakeholders
  • The ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly and succinctly to senior executives
  • Strong skills across budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis
  • A collaborative leadership style, with experience guiding and developing teams
  • A proactive mindset, comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment

 

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Commerce or Business, and full membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Charter Accountants Australia New Zealand.
