  • Salary relative to experience ranging from $173,121 to $191,993 + superannuation & annual leave loading

The Financial Planning & Analysis function sits at the centre of Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW)’s financial strategy, supporting critical decisions across climate change, energy, environment, water and heritage. As Senior Manager, Finance Strategic Budgeting, you will help shape budget outcomes, strengthen financial governance and provide clear advice that supports decision making across a large and complex Cluster.

The team works closely with senior leaders, agencies and central government bodies to ensure strong financial governance, effective resource allocation, and high-quality reporting that supports decision-making. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment where accuracy, responsiveness and strong stakeholder relationships are critical to success.

About the Role

As the Senior Manager, Finance Strategic Budgeting, you will play a key leadership role in coordinating DCCEEW’s State Budget process and shaping financial outcomes across the Cluster. You will work closely with senior executives, agencies and NSW Treasury to provide clear, timely and strategic budget advice that supports funding decisions, resource allocation and performance oversight.

This is an opportunity to lead high profile, complex and time critical budget work within a large government portfolio with strong public purpose. You will bring structure, insight and judgement to complex financial issues, influence senior stakeholders and help ensure the Department is well positioned to deliver on its strategic priorities.

 

You are a confident, credible finance leader who thrives in complexity and brings a strategic lens to budget and financial management.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience leading complex budget processes and delivering within tight timeframes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at senior levels
  • The ability to translate financial insights into clear, practical advice for non-financial audiences
  • Confidence in navigating ambiguity and balancing competing priorities across a broad stakeholder group

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Commerce or Business, and membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Charter Accountants Australia New Zealand.
