As a Senior Secretariat Officer, you help our key meetings and committees run smoothly, making sure everything’s organised, clear and ready to go. From planning through to papers and reporting, you’re across the full process and work closely with others to keep things connected and moving.

You’ll be juggling different stakeholders and priorities, so you know how to manage timelines, keep standards high and get things done. Along the way, you build strong relationships, offer practical advice and use insights to help support better decisions and keep improving how we do things.

What you will bring to the role

  • You bring strong experience supporting committees end-to-end, with the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver meetings and papers that are clear, timely and high quality.
  • You communicate with confidence and care, building trusted relationships and working collaboratively to negotiate, influence and resolve challenges with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • You stay calm under pressure and manage competing priorities, keeping things on track while balancing deadlines, expectations and complex, interconnected work.
  • You use sound judgement and attention to detail to provide practical advice, undertake research and shape clear recommendations that support informed decision making.
  • You bring a proactive, team-focused mindset, always looking for ways to improve how we work and strengthen governance across the Department.
  • Understanding of relevant statutory requirements and public sector policies and standards relating to audit and governance practices, including Treasury policies TPP15-03 and TPP16-02.
  • Advanced minute taking skills for Boards and Committees.
