• Package includes salary ($95,450.00 - $ 102,241.00), employer's contribution to superannuation and 8.5% loading for working weekends and public holidays

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is offering a unique opportunity for SPC Operations Supervisor to join the Conservation & Aboriginal Partnerships team. In this role, you’ll supervises volunteer shooters to ensure supplementary pest control (SPC) activities are undertaken safely and effectively with a strong focus on achieving a reduction in the impacts of pest animals on reserve values.

The role offers variety and includes responsibility for:

• Coordinating, liaising with and supervising volunteers and work crews
• Training staff and volunteers in pest animal control techniques and safe firearms use
• Undertaking monitoring, ground shooting, baiting and trapping programs identified in the regional pest management strategies
• Ensuring safe work procedures are followed to meet WH&S legislative requirements and compliance with NPWS Shooting Operations Plans
• Managing and reporting on work programs including undertaking administrative functions as required.

• Knowledge of legislation relating to firearms, pest animal and national park management.
• Ability to work with the organisation’s statutory obligations as they apply to conservation of natural, Aboriginal and cultural heritage values and a willingness to exercise regulatory and delegated authorities.

• Possession of a current firearms licence and demonstrated ability and experience in the safe use of firearms for pest animal control. 
• Current First Aid Certificate and current Australian drivers licence including capacity for four-wheel driving and willingness to fly in light aircraft.
