Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.\r\nDeputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.\r\n
Summary Statement
\r\nThe Criminal Division\r\nseeks a Deputy Attorney General to serve as Assistant Unit Head (AUH) for the\r\nSpecial Victims Unit in Sussex County. The Deputy Attorneys General in this\r\nUnit work closely with medical professionals, detectives, and child welfare professionals\r\nto investigate sexual assaults, child death, abuse and neglect cases; evaluate\r\navailable evidence for charging; and prosecute crimes supported by the\r\nevidence. This will be a hybrid position addressing Felony Trial Unit\r\nneeds in addition to the SVU Unit.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n**This position is Internal/In-House only.� Applicants may only apply if they are current employees of the Department of Justice**\r\n
Essential Functions
As an AUH, this\r\nindividual will carry their own caseload of child death and murder, child abuse\r\nand neglect, and sexual assault cases, in addition to assisting the Unit Head\r\nin the directing and managing of other Deputy Attorneys General, administrative\r\nand support operations within the Unit; coordination of assignments and\r\ntraining for all unit members, and other managerial tasks as needed. The AUH\r\nworks closely with law enforcement, child protection agencies, and the Courts\r\nto address issues with the cases as well as having “on call” responsibilities\r\nto assist police with after-hours investigations.�\r\n
Job Requirements
A candidate for this\r\nleadership position should have the skills necessary to effectively manage\r\nstaff, engage Deputy Attorneys General in trainings, and have a high\r\nproficiency in criminal prosecution. This candidate must be able to manage\r\ncomplex investigations, evaluate cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate\r\nlegal issues with the ability to research accurately and effectively. In\r\naddition, the candidate must be able to develop a good working relationship\r\nwith detectives, medical personnel, child welfare professionals, other Deputy\r\nAttorneys General, support staff and Court personnel.� Delaware Bar\r\nmembership is required.\r\n
