Summary Statement

This level is responsible for supervising and participating in moral and spiritual support programs for individuals. \r\n

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Plans, coordinates, and conducts religious services such as communion, confession, weddings, baptisms and funerals. \r\n �\r\n Plans and schedules religious programs and instruction provided by community volunteers.\r\n �\r\n Counsels individuals and families on a regular basis and in times of crisis.\r\n �\r\n Ensures moral and spiritual support on a consistent and emergency basis. \r\n �\r\n Maximizes benefits of volunteer programs.\r\n �\r\n Participates with other staff professionals to provide holistic care. \r\n\r\n

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Chaplain II\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Possession of a Masters degree or higher in Divinity or related field. \r\n Possession of a ecclesiastical endorsement by a recognized religious denomination and approval by that body for institutional ministry. \r\n Six months experience in clinical or institutional pastoral work. \r\n Six months experience in individual or group counseling. \r\n\r\n

Additional Posting Information

Candidates must successfully complete all phases of the Non-Security Basic Training Course to receive Hazardous Duty A1. This course is five-weeks in duration, and is administered by the Department of Correction at the Steven R. Floyd Sr. Training Academy. Coursework includes physical, classroom and hands-on training.\r\n

The State of Delaware Executive Branch participates in the Federal E-Verify system where the State will provide the federal government with each new hires Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. For more information refer to our job seeker resources. \r\n\r\n\r\nDOC: For admission to the State of Delaware Department of Correction Academy applicants who are made a conditional offer of employment shall be required to successfully complete a criminal background check, pre-employment drug test and medical examination. The recruiting agency requires the applicant to pay for the medical examination as part of the conditional offer of hire. \r\n\r\n\r\nUpon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.\r\n\r\n
