\r\n\r\n\r\nDelaware's Attorney General, the State's chief law enforcement officer, has a broad responsibility to combat crime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, provide legal services to entirety of state government, and fight fraud.�\r\n\r\n\r\nIn the Civil Division, approximately 80 attorneys provide legal support to the executive branch agencies in the form of general counsel advice, administrative hearing prosecutions, board representation, and all stages of civil litigation.��\r\n\r\n\r\nAttorneys in the Civil Division enjoy a 37.5 hour work week with true work/life balance including: a hybrid work environment, no billable hours, generous paid time off, affordable benefits plans, free trainings and CLE, 12 weeks paid parental leave, student loan forgiveness, pension eligibility, and a supportive collaborative work environment.\r\n

Summary Statement

The Department of Justice\r\n(“DOJ”) seeks a Deputy Attorney General (“DAG”) to serve as a red light and\r\nspeed camera prosecutor.� This DAG\r\nposition is in the Civil Division, Defensive Litigation Unit (“DLU”), in New\r\nCastle or Kent County, and is primarily responsible for advising DelDOT on its Electronic\r\nSafety Enforcement Programs (“ESEP”).� �This DAG will primarily represent the State as\r\na prosecutor in all civil electronic enforcement matters in JP Court statewide,\r\ncommunicate with the court and law enforcement regarding the scheduling of\r\ncalendars and any requested discovery and motion practice, and litigate appeals\r\nof administrative decisions. This DAG will advise DelDOT on ESEP compliance\r\nwith Federal and State laws, review civil ESEP violations and respond to\r\nquestions from stakeholders and motorists, negotiate statewide ESEP contracts,\r\nresolve ESEP vendor related issues, and draft, review, and respond to existing,\r\nnew, or proposed legislation or regulations related to ESEP.� \r\n�\r\nThis DAG will have other duties related\r\nto the Department of Transportation, as well as handling additional assignments\r\nas directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or\r\nAssistant Unit Head.� \r\n

Job Requirement Series

\r\n\r\nMembership in Delaware Bar is\r\nrequired.� The most qualified candidates\r\nhave some prior general counsel, insurance defense, litigation experience, or\r\nprosecution experience; however,\r\nsuch expertise and experiences are not required for selection. The DAG should\r\nbe able to take a proactive approach to assisting its agency clients, therefore\r\na successful candidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to\r\nidentify potential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues in\r\norder to minimize or avoid future legal action.\r\nThe DAG should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and\r\ncommunicate clearly with client agencies, and should have demonstrated legal\r\nability and a thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules.\r\n�\r\nThe DAG must have a willingness\r\nto travel to meet departmental needs and meeting schedules.� Hearings before the JP Court occur in New\r\nCastle, and Sussex County currently. The DOJ will provide an office for this\r\nDAG in a DOJ Office.\r\n\r\n
