Summary Statement

This is the entry level of practical nursing care. Positions report to a technical supervisor.\r\n\r\n

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Administers treatments as directed.\r\n Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration).\r\n Pours, administers, charts and records medications.\r\n Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.\r\n Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff.�\r\n Records information on patients' charts.\r\n\r\n

Job Requirement Series

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse I\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license or�multi-state compact license.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse II\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.\r\n At least six months' experience as a Practical Nurse.\r\n\r\n\r\nJOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse III\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.\r\n At least eighteen months' experience as a Practical Nurse.�\r\n\r\n

\r\nThis is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.\r\n\r\n

Conditions of Hire

All new hires are required to attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. The session will be held at a designated location in either Kent or New Castle County.\r\nPre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.\r\n\r\nCriminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.� The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.\r\nThis position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable�terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.� This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.\r\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
