Decima International is seeking an experienced Freelance Backend Developer to build and/or complete the backend functionality of the company website. The freelancer will work with the existing website design/frontend and internal stakeholders to deliver a reliable, secure, maintainable, and scalable backend.

The developer should be comfortable working independently, translating business requirements into technical solutions, integrating frontend components and third-party services, and taking ownership through deployment and handover.

Responsibilities

→Design and develop the website’s backend architecture.
→Develop and maintain APIs required by the frontend.
→Implement database structures and backend business logic.
→Integrate contact forms, CMS functionality, email notifications, third-party APIs, or other website services as required.
→Connect backend services with the existing frontend.
→Ensure appropriate authentication, authorization, data validation, and website security.
→Optimize backend performance, reliability, and scalability.
→Configure development, staging, and production environments as needed.
→Support cloud/server deployment.
→Implement source control and an appropriate deployment/CI/CD process.
→Troubleshoot backend and integration issues.
→Test APIs and backend functionality before launch.
→Produce clear technical documentation.
→Complete code and credential handover to Decima International at project closure.
→Provide post-launch support during an agreed warranty/support period.

Requirements

Strong professional backend/software development experience.
Demonstrated experience developing REST APIs / Web APIs.
Experience developing production web applications.
Strong understanding of databases and backend architecture.
Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services.
Familiarity with cloud deployment, preferably AWS, Azure, or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Git, Docker, deployment processes, and basic CI/CD.
Understanding of secure coding practices, performance optimization, and maintainability.
Ability to work independently against milestones and deadlines.
Strong English communication and technical documentation skills.

Preferred: ASP.NET Core/C# or Python/Django/Flask experience; prior corporate website projects; CMS integration; experience taking a website from development through production deployment.

A successful engagement should result in a fully functioning backend, completed frontend/backend integration, deployed production environment, tested APIs and forms, source-code handover, technical documentation, access/credential handover, and a defined post-launch support period.
