Lead Commercial Counsel (m/f/d)

Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist:in). 4-5+ years post-qualification experience, gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house within a fast-paced environment.
We’re working with a late-stage, VC-backed SaaS company operating across multiple European markets. Reporting to the General Counsel, they are looking to hire a Lead Commercial Counsel to lead on commercial legal strategy.
You will take the lead on all commercial legal matters, shaping contracting strategy while supporting the business on complex, cross-border initiatives. You will also manage and develop one direct report, providing clear direction, feedback, and support to ensure high-quality, commercially focused legal advice across the team.
- Leading the company’s commercial legal strategy across all markets.
- Overseeing the drafting, negotiation, and execution of a wide range of commercial agreements (including customer, supplier, SaaS, and strategic partnerships).
- Acting as a senior advisor to leadership on legal risk, deal structure, and commercial decision-making.
- Building and optimising scalable contracting processes, templates, and playbooks.
- Partnering closely with sales, procurement, product, and operations teams on key initiatives.
- Supporting high-value and complex negotiations, including strategic partnerships and enterprise deals.
- Manage and develop one direct report, setting clear priorities, providing regular feedback, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, commercially focused legal advice
Requirements

- 4-5+ years post-qualification experience, gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong track record in commercial contracting, including complex and high-value agreements.
- Experience operating at a strategic level, advising senior stakeholders and influencing business decisions.
- Experience working in high-growth, international environments (ideally within tech or similarly fast-moving sectors).
- Strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to risk.
